ROCHESTER, N.Y. (FLX) — FLX Tour officials were excited to annouce Wednesday the finalized roster for the upcoming Genesee Invitational, taking place on Sunday August 25, 2024 at the world-famous Genesee Valley Golf Course.
The annual two-man best-ball format, and third FLX Major championship on the annual calendar, will feature 36 Tour pros, including a debut, in what is the largest field ever on Tour (edging out the 2024 Grand Open, which saw 35 contestants). The first group will tee off at 9 a.m. on that fateful Sunday, setting the stage for what is expected to be a thrilling finish to the FLX season.
“There’s been a lot of back and forth on what is the ‘right’ number for these tournaments,” said FLX Tour Co-Commissioner Matt Driffill. “I tend to lean with the grow the game mentality, but I recognize the all-day marathons these tournaments can become with uncapped chaos, so we’re trying to find a decent middle ground in consistent growth, but sticking to the traditions and values that makes this thing special. Joy shared is joy multipled, after all.”
“I’m so fucking sick of him saying that,” FLX Tour Co-Commissioner Shane Driffill added. “We cannot go over 40, we can’t right now.”

Denotes FLX Tour debut
According to FLX Tour officials, the field will be split into two hats, based on mean handicap calculations, and drawn for teams from each. So half the field (the lower handicaps) will be in one hat, and the other half (the higher handicaps) will be in another hat. This will ensure a fair playing field, and high fun meters.
According to sources close to FLX Headquarters, the handicap cutoff will be calculated the day of the team drawing, which is tentatively scheduled for 6 p.m. on Friday, August 16. The drawing will be livestreamed on the FLX Discord channel.
That means you have about one more week of handicap juicing.
