Early betting odds have Sean and Tom D. as the favorites, but lines are expected to move as the handicap deadline approaches. Speaking of which:

Reminder to fans and Tour pros alike, the application of the 35/15 handicap rule will be in effect this year (click here for a refresher on what that means), and those team handicaps will be calculated the Wednesday before the tournament (7/17/24).

Aside from Sawyer and Tom D., other teams to keep an eye out for include Ryan Pancione & Brier Koroly (the only team consisting of two major winners), Jesse Cramer & Dan Graves, Chuck Pace & Evan Santiago, as well as Dom Trento & the 2024 Grand Open champion, Ryan Netchke.

Danny Driffill, fresh off a round or 78 at Churchville this past weekend, will also be seeking history, with an opportunity to win his third straight Churchville Classic title.

Tour leadership is also expected to be in the leaderboard mix, with FLX Tour Co-Commissioner Shane Driffill teaming up with FLX Tour Head of Content and Rules Czar Joey Mortillaro. FLX Tour Co-Commissioner Matt Driffill got the lucky draw, pairing up with 2023 YMOTY “Uncle Chris” Miers.

“Lot of drama heading into the second major of the season,” said FLX Tour Co-Commissioner Shane Driffill said. “I’m glad Joe and I get to get out first so we can set up a nice gallery on 18. We’re expecting fireworks with that final pairing.”

Fireworks, or fisticuffs? Stay tuned and we’ll keep you updated.

FLX Tour officials said Monday entry will be consistent with this year’s Grand Open — $20 per person, or $40 per team. Payouts will be as follows:

  • 1st place — $300 ($150 for each teammate)
  • 2nd place — $150 ($75 for each teammate)
  • 3rd place — $100 ($50 for each teammate)
  • Closest to the pin challenge — $100 (officially awarded to one player, but that pro can choose to chop with teammate if they wish to do so).

As is tradition, breakfast balls will be available for purchase on holes 1 & 10 for $5 each. Tour officials encourage pros interested in purchasing breakfast balls to pay in advance with their entry fee payment to make altering payouts at the end easier than the chaos of paper and pen with the gallery of 18. Not that we’re speaking from experiences of getting 29 venmos for $5 over a few hours.
