Horne section: Tour pro bails on tournament at 11th hour

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (FLX) — The mostly scandal free FLX Tour announced Thursday an update for the upcoming Genesee Invitational.

Seasoned veteran Todd Horne notified Tour leadership that he would be unable to participate in Sunday’s event. Although personal reasons are personal reasons, sources say leaders were and remained stunned that he waited until three days before this team event to let people know he was unavailable.

“I mean if it’s a funeral or unexpected event, we get it,” one leadership source said. “But if it’s for like a pool party, that you knew about for months, and then just all of a decided at the last minute you’d rather do that, well there are better ways to go about it.”

“It’s possible this is a Golden Boys moment for the young man,” another official said. “This is not the kind of news we want right before a tournament. We can’t right now.”

The good news is that leadership secured a replacement for Horne’s dropping out. The young man Victor Sanchez Jr., sporting a 20 handicap, will be making his FLX Tour debut Sunday at the annual two-man best ball tournament, and will replace Horne as Brandon Burris’ teammate in the 10:40 a.m. group with Dan Driffill Sr. and Nick Kozak.

“We’re excited for a new young chipper snapper to be able to make his first appearance,” another unnamed FLX Tour official said.

Sources close to FLX HQ also said that Horne’s 11th hour departure will be submitted to the Disciplinary Action Committee for further review.

FLX leadership is also reminding Tour pros to pay their entry fee on time this tournament because as you can see, we got a lot going on.

We’ll see you Sunday!
