Registration opens for 2025 Genesee Invitational

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (FLX) — Wasting no time turning the corner on the calendar, FLX Tour officials announced Tuesday that registration is now up for the 2025 Genesee Invitational.

The annual two-man best-ball tournament will take place at the world famous Genesee Valley Golf Course on Sunday, August 24, with the first group scheduled to tee it up at 9 a.m.

Officials say there will be once again the two-hat system for the team drawing, with the entire field being split into two groups based on handicaps, and one player from each team being selected from each hat, respectively.

“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” said FLX Tour Co-Commissioner Shane Drififll, fresh off his runner-up finish at the Churchville Classic. Shane, a two-time winner at the Invitational himself, said he supports the two-hat system. “It’s an equalizer. The Classic, with the scramble format and the 35/15 rule, really anyone can win it. For best ball, having a high handicap and a low handicap is the best way to go.”

It’s also prime juicing season as Tour pros on the handicap cutoff will be looking to add some high scores into their cards in a hope of catching a break into the highly-desired hat 2.

“I need to be in hat two,” said FLX Tour Co-Commissioner Matt Driffill. “I’m a 17 handicap, if I get paired with someone lower than me, we got a chance. If not, well, better warm up my bell ringing arm.”

The team drawing for the Genesee Invitational is yet to be scheduled, but per tradition, fans and pros can expect that to be live streamed on the Tour Discord 1-2 weeks in advance of the tournament.

Consistent with the first two majors of the season, entry fee for this tournament will be $25.

With half of the majors of the year in the rear-view mirror, it’s gut check time for folks looking to climb the Young Man of the Year rankings, or to notch their name in the Hall of Champions.

Who will be next to make history? Will it be you?
