Teams, tee times set for high-stakes 2025 Churchville Classic

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (FLX) — Hold onto your butts, folks. It’s major week.

The FLX Tour’s midsummer staple returns to Churchville Golf Course this weekend, and the field is officially locked in.

With 44 players spread across 22 teams, this this year’s Classic promises a deep field of match play firepower, a healthy dose of trash talk, and, as always, a few surprises waiting among Churchville’s doglegs and tight fairways.

“The Classis is a favorite on the calendar among fans and pros alike,” FLX Tour Co-Commissioner Shane Driffill said. “For a lot of us, it’s the only scramble of the year, and a two-man version is more fun than the four-man version because of integrity.”

Teams and tee times were drawn on Friday evening during a live streamed event on the Tour’s Discord channel. Fate called and destiny answered, the teams are as follows:

7:30 a.m.Tommy Deuire / Alex MikalajoZach Stedman / Matt Driffill

9:10 a.m.Chad Christ / Nick KozakEric Spanbauer / Lou Englert

The early favorites are Sean and Chris, the only two Young Men of the Year on Tour, but with limited assistance from low handicaps, they’ll both need to be sharp enough to overcome any mistakes on the course.

“It’s never a foregone conclusion,” FLX Tour Co-Commissioner Matt Driffill said. “Last year everyone thought Sean and Tom D. were going to reign supreme, and then Nathan Wirth and Chad Christ shocked the world. Every dog has their day.”

The action kicks off Saturday, July 19 at Churchville Golf Course, with the first tee time at 7:30 a.m. and groups going off every 10 minutes through 9:20 a.m.

Players should plan to arrive early, warm up quickly, and be ready when their number is called. The pace of play is critical, and as always, sportsmanship and adherence to the rules are non-negotiable pillars of the Tour.

SPEAKING OF WHICH: A few words from our Rules Czar Joey Mortillaro:

” Paper scorecards will be given to each cart. Both teams will be on the scorecard to keep a true and honest tournament. One player from each team will keep the score for the live event on 18Birdies. Any disputes or discrepancies on the paper cards could result in a DQ . After your round review the scores with both teams. Thank you.”

The 35/15 rule will again govern team handicaps: 35% of the lower handicap and 15% of the higher handicap are combined for the team total. All names will be randomly drawn live — no stacking, no preferences, no trades.

This year’s Churchville Classic features brand new hardware, including a pair of winners’ prizes the champs get to keep forever. Add that to the bragging rights and prize haul, and you’ve got one of the most coveted wins on the FLX calendar.

So come ready. Respect the game, respect your partner, and don’t hold anything back.

Entry for this tournmanet is $25 per participant. Look out for daily shame updates on payments from leadership on the FLX Tour Discord.
