Locked in: FLX Tour announces date for 2024 Churchville Classic

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (FLX) — All eyes and focus are lasered in on next week’s Grand Open at Durand Eastman Golf Course, the Grand Daddy of ‘Em All and the first major the season.

So FLX Tour officials believed it to be the perfect time to announce the date for this year’s Churchville Classic. The FLX Tour’s beloved annual two-man scramble major will be held on Saturday, July 27 at Churchville Golf Course with the first group teeing off at 7:30 a.m.

FLX Tour Pros and prospective players are required to fill out the form below to be eligible for competition:

Like last year, the “35/15” rule will be in effect for the two-man scramble tournament. One the field is finalized, all players will be split into two pools based on their handicap, and then pairings will be drawn live on the FLX Tour Discord (date TBD).

Once the teams of two are selected, the Tour pro with the lower handicap will be considered Player A and the Tour pro with the higher handicap will be considered Player B. To calculate the team’s handicap for the event, we’ll take 35% of Player A’s handicap and add it to 15% of Player B’s handicap, rounding to the nearest whole number. An examples to illustrate this program in practice (handicaps taken from a similar article to this one written last year):

1 low handicap, 1 high handicap
(Player A) Tom Deiure — 12.8 handicap x/12.8 = 35/100 — x=4.48
(Player B) Mike Converse — 36 handicap x/36 = 15/100 — x=5.4
4.48 + 5.4 + 9.88
Tom and Mike handicap is 10

As you can see, this handicap system will ensure a level playing field when it’s time to tee off. Tour officials say team handicaps will be published shortly after the pairings are drawn.

It’s tough not to get excited about this event because everyone loves a scramble, but it’s also tough to look past THE GRAND FUCKIN’ OPEN! COMING AT YOU LIVE WITH A MOTHERFUCKIN PRODUCTION CREW NEXT WEEK MFS.
