Meet the Pros: Matt Driffill

It’s that special time again …. we’re back with FLX Tour’s Meet the Pros!

This one is bound to be a total snoozer. FLX Tour Co-Commissioner Matt Driffill is a boring motherfucker and lacks creativity with his every breath. Though mostly responsible for the content on this site, he’s basically a puppet for FLX leadership and offers little-to-nothing in terms of substance both on the course and off it.

He’s a two-time FLX major champion, but that was back in the day when there were hardly any good players, no handicaps and even fewer rules. His legacy is secure but the ink might be dry as we saw a major regression in his play this season compared to 2022.

Name

— Matt Driffill

Birthday

— June 6, 1990 (year of the horse)

FLX Tour Nickname

— Chu

How long can you hit your driver?

— 240-260 stoclk

What is your current handicap?

— 17

Who is your FLX Tour rival?

— Myself

What’s your favorite course?

— The Links at Greystone

What’s your least favorite course?

— You think I’m gonna complain about a course? Sure some are better than others, but just having the opportunity to get out there and get some swings in is all that really matters. Also, Genny South.

Which three people would you choose for your dream foursome?

— John Daly, Josh Allen, & Jack White

What’s your dream achievement as an FLX Tour pro?

— Hole in 1 on 17 at Durand to clinch a victory at the Grand Open. I don’t need to set my sights on Young Man of the Year. I’m a realist. I have no business laying any claim to the Tour’s best player. But every dog has their day, and bah gawd pal, I’ll have mine. Also, to sell some merch. I really gotta find a way to make some money of this stuff. It’s simply TOO GOOD.

What’s your career best score on 18 holes and what course was it?

— 80 at Lakeshore CC to win the 2022 FLX Cup. I peaked.

What advice would you give to any youngsters out there dreaming of one day playing on the Tour?

— Whipper snappers need to realize this grind isn’t a hobby. You want a hobby? Join a bowling league. This shit right here is life brother. If you don’t feel a burning passion to compete and win and survive, deep in your loins, you will never make it on this Tour. These guys will chew you up and spit you out.

How would you rate your experience on the FLX Tour out of 10?

— 10/10

Perhaps the most useless Meet the Pros segment to date. Thank god it’s over.
